Colorado militia attacked a peaceful encampment of Arapaho and Cheyenne Indians at Sand Creek, Colorado, November 1864. Governor John Evans thought this massacre would end Native American raids. Instead, 20 years of conflict continued. The talk is a day before the 159th anniversary.

Flint Whitlock is an award-winning writer and historian with over 30 years experience in the military field. He has authored or co-authored 16 books and scores of published magazine articles on topics mostly related to American military history, including the critically acclaimed Soldiers on Skis: A Pictorial Memoir of the 10th Mountain Division.
