Kids and Gardening
Gardening is a great way to introduce kids to ecology, sustainability, self-reliance, not to mention get them outside, exercising! In the past several years, the Crescent Grange has hosted a children’s garden and has had quite a few young volunteers who have helped build soil, plant, weed, water and harvest. Parents already know that when kids help with cooking healthy meals, they are more likely to eat them. But if they can grow their own vegetables, they are even more inspired to taste and sample a variety of produce. “Playing” in the dirt is also a good way to build a child’s immunity, according to recent studies.
If you and your kids would like to participate in the Crescent Grange community, contact Margaret, the garden coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
